The pull of the Sea

Stay with me in the shallow end, where life is easy.
All will be washed away eventually.
Standing in the waves lapping over scars, holding on hard.
We sink closer to the earth’s core, I do not stop myself from slipping.
Standing with you in the watery hollows
makes me feel that we are untouched by time.

We’re falling under the water’s spel, I like the feeling.
The waves shattering on the bay, far behind where we stand.
We shall not recover from the aftermath, these undercurrents
will drag us further out. I will not fight, we shall be done by night.

I could do anything but I cannot disappear. I need the veil of water.
I need the earth to pull me near.
